This cannot be understated: the most anticipated video game of all time, Grand Theft Auto VI, is finally coming out on November 19. With every bit of news Rockstar drops, there’s a massive wave of hype. Most recently, we got our latest trailer, and it made one thing completely obvious.

At this point, Grand Theft Auto 6 may as well be a national holiday.

GTA 6 is going to make history. Honestly, it already has. It’s reportedly the most expensive game ever made, with a real shot at becoming the most profitable too.

Enter “The World’s Biggest Out-of-Office Sweepstakes”

Because everyone is already joking about calling out of work for launch week, IGN and Best Buy have hopped on to host a series of giveaways leading up to an event that’s fittingly called “The World’s Biggest Out-of-Office Sweepstakes.”

Over the course of three weeks, IGN and Best Buy are hosting giveaways every weekday, Monday through Thursday with a Friday grand prize bundle each week, all building up to the launch and finishing off with a major live event on November 14 in Torrance, California. Throughout those three weeks, they’re dropping massive game giveaways to prepare you for your escape, I mean vacation from life when the game finally hits.

It’s completely understandable why Best Buy and IGN would want to go all-in on this series of giveaways and events leading up to launch. A release this massive is a true once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We don’t really get giant physical retail launch events like we used to since the industry has shifted so heavily toward digital downloads, and GTA 6 is one of the few games on the planet big enough to actually bring people out in person. I honestly think I might be 60 before GTA 7 comes out, so let’s really enjoy this rollout while it’s happening.

Torrance California Event Details

Since Torrance is local to me, I’m hoping to make it out to the November 14 event. I’m not confirmed yet, and I’m not even sure I’ll be able to go, but if I do, I’ll cover it on the ground, take photos, and highlight all the coolest things that go down.
